Problem of the week
Problem C
You must love baseball!
- 30 students in class
- 21 baseball fans
- 9 non baseball fans
- atleast 1baseball and non baseball fan is absent
- more than half the class is present
- asking baseball fan is 3/4
- find the LCM
- 21/30 fans 9/30 non fans
- How many students were absent that particular morning?
Find the LCM
LCM for 21- 1,3,7,21
LCM for 9- 1,3,9
LCM for 30- 1,2,3,5,6,10,15,30
3 is the LCM fOr all of the numbers
Some factors tht equal 3/4
12 / 4=3
16 /4=4
15/ 5= 3
20 /5= 4
18/6=3
24/6=4
The first 3 are possible solutions because it shows that 4,5,6 students are absent and is less then the half the class- 3/4.
21/7=3
28/7=4
This is not possible because it shows that there wee no baseball fans absent.
Conclusion
In conclusion I bed more information to find one answer to the problem because I am getting 3 possible solutions which are 4,5,6 of students begin absent that particular morning. So therefore, I have 3 possible solution and need only one that is correct for how many student are absent that day. I need Jay Fann to give me one or two more clues to get the 1 possible answer.
